PERSPECTIVE VIEW FROM ACROSS LAKE MUIR
Continuing our longstanding relationship with the FortWhyte Alive is the proposal for the redevelopment of its original site and southern gate. Located along the south bank of Muir Lake, this 8000 sq ft facility intends to serve the Centre’s growing outdoor/aquatic adventure programs and community outreach initiatives.
The structure lies between the grasslands and prairie sky, a marooned hull gesturing northwards, demarcating site and pathway. Situated within a landscape of activity, the form frames movement, gathering, instruction and expansive views of the educational grounds. Working from existing and future site conditions, the building acts as both threshold and respite, meeting place and market - a "Crossroads" to Winnipeg’s Green Corridor.
